First off, all 5 gallons will be divvied up among all the hackers. So, join up and claim your ration! Ever wanted to learn how to make some delicious homebrew? Now you can! Your local hackerspace will be hosting its first ever brew class which will educate you about the history of brewing in Japan and America, and will even show you first hand on how to brew your own beer! Class two is in 3 weeks following this and there will be a lesson in bottling. You'll even get to drink some homebrew made by the brewmeister himself. Here's where I'm going to get serious. Here's the lesson layout. I will briefly tell you about the history of brewing and its evolution to where we are now. Japan's brewing history is particularly interesting. I will cover the legality issues of brewing in Japan. I will teach you about the basics of the chemical fermentation process. We will brew an extract brew together. You will get a peek at secondary fermentation, as I have begun preparing a brew beforehand. I will give you the information you need to start homebrewing yourself, at minimal cost. You will soon find out that it is very easy and cheap to produce beer whose quality outweighs those of the mass-producing companies in Japan. Cloning those guys' recipes is even easier. So give it a try!
