Friday, November 9th, 2012 : Using Drupal to Develop Websites
Presenter: Emery Premeaux
First, NOTE that the TPC November meeting is on a Friday night.
The venue for the meeting this month is the Black Lion in Meguro.
Lastly, the date of the meeting is November 9th .
Apparently TPC is not constrained by how it did things in the past, i.e.,
the meeting is NOT on the first Thursday of the month at the church
Drupal is an open source content management platform that allows you to create and maintain many different types of websites without needing to know any coding languages. Also once the content management system is configured it allows non-technical users to add and edit content without needing to know any HTML or be steeped in web design technology. Drupal has been described as being like a Lego kit. Create a site that suits your needs by using the Drupal core and by selecting from the thousands of add-on modules and designs. Emery has had extensive experience developing and maintaining web sites with Drupal. He will draw upon that background to introduce the audience to the Drupal way. This will include a look at some his current projects. The goal is to generate interest in the audience to use Drupal for their own sites. The early stages of mastering this system can be challenging. Emery has offered to help by conducting several beginner Drupal classes at Tokyo Hacker Space. The time and dates of the classes will be worked out at the end of the meeting if a sufficient number of people are willing to sign up for the classes.
More information about this TPC November 9th meeting and others activities will be posted here soon. Check back.
