DIY Geiger-Mueller counter workshop 2.0
I am planing to organize a DIY GM counter workshop. Details are still not fixed, stay tuned.
Class will be held at THS house, as usual:http://www.tokyohackerspace.org/en/book/how-to-get-there
2011-08-08 19:00 .. 22:00
The kit consist of 3 parts: motherboard (Freakduino), daugtherboard (NetRAD shield) and radiation sensor (SBM-20 GM tube). If you have any of these, you can use yours, but we'll have to make sure they are similar enough.
Once assembled, tuned and tested you just connect it to a DHCP-enabled LAN connected to the Internet and it will upload data to Pachube data aggregation service (e.g. see http://pachube.com/feeds/29600)
3,000: Freakduino MB
3,500: NetRAD shield
4,500: SBM-20 GM tube
(JPY11,000 for the full kit)
Workshop fees (in addition to kit):
JPY500 for THS members (in good standing)
JPY1,500 for all others
Kit does not include box, mini USB cable, LAN cable, PC (for debugging).
Some English required, Japanese optional.
Approximate build time 60-90min (for people with soldering experience).
5 people maximum (I'll select a homogeneous group by skills, if there are more applications).
Bring a laptop if you want to set-up control software (not a requirement).
