I would like to organize a data collection day, sometime in January or February.

I am thinking a weekend day.

I am going to propose a combination of paper and electronic data collection.

The paper data recorded would be:
* GPS coordinates OR tag name / number (dependent on your GPS unit)
* Store name (romanji)
* Store name (kanji) (only ONE must be recorded, and can be translated later)
* Store category
* Essential contents and products available
* photo file name / index (dependant on your camera)

Electronic data to record
* photograph of store front signage, to make it easy to identify location

My school has loads of recycle paper. So I will make some notepads to carry along and fill in as you collect Points of Interest.

The paper element will make it much easier for those who have to collect all the data and input and upload to the map.

Having not posted a date yet, who is tentatively "in" ?

Please reply with your name, and if you have a GPS unit or not. Make and model would be useful as well (Laptop slaved GPS, Iphone, Android, or a hand-held unit such as Magellen or Garmin)

I might try to involve the GeoCaching community on this project as well, at a later date.
(they would likely tag other sorts of locations, dependant on their interests.)

After tagging along today, I realize that I remember places only hazily. :)
I'd love to help out, on a Saturday if possible.
It would be nice if we could collect business cards/flyers from the stores perhaps?

Getting Meishi is a good idea.. then just have to write the tag number on the back.
