This class will present the basics for understanding networks, how they work, and how to interact with machines remotely. We will cover IP and MAC addresses, DNS, DHCP, TCP/UDP and their ports, ping, traceroute, SSH, nmap. If you are not sure what these terms mean (or if they are a total news to you) this class is for you!
A discussion of the command line environment in Linux/Unix.
This time we'll deal with customization of bash, using environment variables and startup scripts.
If we have time, we'll deal with remote environments and how to work remotely.
