02/20 - Arduino 101

02/20/2011 15:00
02/20/2011 17:00
Event Type:
Workshop

The Arduino is a micro-controller platform for entry level embedded systems applications.

Ok. Take two:

The Arduino is like a computer on a single chip. What makes it cool is that you can attach switches, lights, knobs, speakers, lasers, and monkeys to it.
Yes. Even monkeys. Or humans. Or.. well.. ANYTHING.

What makes it +6 awesome is that writing software for it is actually pretty easy (unlike other micro-controller platforms).

This class will introduce you to the Arduino hardware, as well as the software IDE.

Akihabara Video Guide and Map

Status:
complete

Patrick and I decided to take a day and film a ton of footage about different shops around Akihabara. We then compiled all the addresses and he generated Google map markers for them. After that, we added descriptions and links wherever possible and put up the page. You can see it here:

"History Hacker" screening, staring Bre Pettis

02/06/2010 17:00
Event Type:
Social

This video stars Bre Pettis. Bre is NOT in Japan. He will not be at THS. Stick around after Electronics 101 for a screening of Bre Pettis' (of NYCResistor/Makerbot - CupCake fame) pilot on the History channel, "History Hacker." The show never got picked up by the Hitler (ahem History) channel, but it would have made a great show. In the pilot, Bre explores the dynamic between Tesla and Edison.
